2024 may seem like a lifetime away, but it's time to begin planning for a High Aventure trip if there is enough interest. This email is for the purpose of just that - the beginning stages of planning for a 2024 adventure.
It has been suggested that Seabase would make a good 2024 High Adventure trip. However, I'd also like to gauge interest for a Northern Tier adventure. Whether the destination, if planning is successful early enough, we may have our pick of season. Consider possible spring expeditions (maybe Spring Break timeframe if we're lucky enough) or a summer expedition. We could consider a fall or winter expedition but likely those would require Scouts to take time off school (probably not the best idea for a longer High Adventure trip).
I have created a spreadsheet with lots of choices for potential options - both at Seabase and Northern Tier. With Seabase, we can consider alternatives to the Scuba adventure since I know not everyone in the Troop is a diver or meets the stringent medical requirements Seabase places for diving. Maybe we find enough interest to have both a non-diving and a scuba diving trek. The spreadsheet is meant to be a conversation-starter since l don't expect to fill a complete 6-8 person trek due to the number of choices available. If we get close, perhaps we combine our efforts with another local troop.
I'd like to keep this spreadsheet open through the end of the year for everyone to consider if a 2024 High Adventure trek may be right for you or your scout. By adding your name, this is not a full commitment, but it should be a strong possibility. The challenge is we will need to probably meet in early January to consolidate responses (i.e. narrow the number of treks for our group) and get full commitment from individuals by mid-January since Troop sign-up (with deposit) begins in mid-January and my understanding is treks fill-up quickly.
Below is a link to the spreadsheet where you can edit/ add your name if interested. Note the 3 spreadsheet tabs including one for very rough cost estimates.
The troop needs a parent to take the torch and begin planning the 2025 Troop 366 Seabase Trip. If interested or you have questions please talk to Mr. Streeter and/or Mr. Christoff
Please see google doc for any money still owed (payments tab, total owed column O)
** We are looking for someone to reach out to sponsors to raise funds for wreaths as well as direct help (e.g. scouts) in placing boxes of wreaths prior to the regular help to distribute individual wreaths. We need this filled ASAP. Sponsorships need to be in by mid to end of November
